Professor Noctowl's Raid Research: Mega Camerupt

A Scholarly Analysis from the Pokebattler Pokémon Research Institute

Raid Introduction

Hello students! My name is Professor Geekbeak, and today, I wish to draw attention to Mega Camerupt. This Fire Ground powerhouse may be outclassed by Mega Charizard or Mega Blaziken, but it is a great option if you lack a Mega for Fire. Grab your notebooks, class is in session. For those who wish to do their research independently, our raw data can be found here. And for those who wish for a simple visual guide, go ahead and take a look at the below visual guide by CaptGoldfish.

Type Effectiveness & Moveset List

Being a Fire Ground dual type, it is ill advised to bring any counters with Electric typing. On the flip side, it is very much advised to bring a Water type, as it is doubly super effective. However, be careful of Solar Beam.

Effectiveness Types
Double Resist (0.4x) Electric Electric
Resist (0.6x) Poison Poison Bug Bug Steel Steel Fire Fire Fairy Fairy
Neutral Normal Normal Fighting Fighting Flying Flying Rock Rock Ghost Ghost Grass Grass Psychic Psychic Ice Ice Dragon Dragon Dark Dark
Super Effective (1.6x) Ground Ground
Double Super Effective (2.6x) Water Water

Mega Camerupt’s moveset includes the following charge moves:

  • Ground Earthquake
  • Rock Rock Tomb
  • Grass Solar Beam
  • Fire Overheat
  • Ground Earth Power
  • Normal Return
  • Ground Scorching Sands

Raid Conclusion

Overall, Mega Camerupt is particularly easy to counter. There is no shortage of strong water types, including Kyogre from last month if you managed to catch a good one. Of course, if you wish to do more research on your box’s best Pokémon for the job, Pokebattler.com itself can be a great help! Remember, the best counter is the one you have powered up and ready to go. I grant extra credit to those who use their best friend bonus and the weather to their advantage. Class dismissed!
