Simulations

Pokebattler is, at its core, a simulator site. Because every Pokemon fight is random, meaning you never know exactly how many charge moves and quick moves a boss will use, your results will be slightly different every time. In order to get the most accurate estimation of how fights will go, Pokebattler simulates each battle multiple times, then averages them out to get the results.

Monte Carlo Simulations (Used for Raids & Gym Battles)

Monte Carlo simulation build models of possible results by substituting a range of values—a probability distribution—for uncertain results. It then calculates the results over and over, each time using a different set of random values. Then it averages the results into one, much more accurate result.

By Level (Non Pokebox) Raid Results with Monte Carlo

Pokebattler now gives users 200 Monte Carlo simulations per results for by level raid results. These are pre- generated for speed and accuracy. The HD gold star you see is a symbol of those super accurate 200 Monte Carlo simulations.

Pokebox Raid Results

These results are custom so they aren’t generated yet. They use a lot of server space. Therefore each user starts with 10 Monte Carlo simulations. You can run each result multiple times yourself to get more accurate results, or you can sign up for our Patreon to get higher number simulations each time, which helps us cover server costs.

    • Monte Carlo – Bronze – This is the automatic setting for all users. 10 random simulations are run and averaged together to make one overall result. The median result based on overall rating is used for combat logs as an example. Most useful in combination with non-perfect dodge strategies.
    • Monte Carlo – Silver (Patreon Patrons only) A highly accurate result. 25 random simulations are run and averaged together to make one overall result. The median result based on overall rating is used for combat logs as an example. Most useful in combination with non-perfect dodge strategies.
    • Monte Carlo – Gold –  (Patreon Patrons only) The most accurate result. 200 random simulations are run and averaged together to make one overall result. The median result based on overall rating is used for combat logs as an example. Most useful in combination with non-perfect dodge strategies.

Random Simulations (For Gym Battles)

Random results are one fully random simulation. It will give quick attacks by your defender a range of anywhere from every 1.5 seconds to every 2.5 seconds. Charge moves are used 50% of the time if the defender has enough energy.

Expected Defender (For Gym Battles)

This is a statistically median result. It has quick attacks every 2 seconds and charge moves one attack late.

Lucky Defender (For Gym Battles)

This is the worst case scenario for you as an attacker. The defender quick attacks every 1.9 seconds and uses charge moves the second it’s possible.
