Niantic, in a determined effort to make sure that I don’t sleep, overnight pushed out a new game master. There were a few hints in there regarding how raids will work but the big news is that they agreed with me and updated super effectiveness and added immunity!.
Simulations
Lets see how this works. Gengar vs. Machamp fight should be changed quite a bit by this with the update.

Wow that’s a big improvement! Our glass cannon is not so glassy anymore.
There are tons of other changes out there, but it will take me a couple days to update with the latest changes. For now take the Pokedex pages with a grain of salt as they are defaulting to the ‘Expected’ simulation and not Monte Carlo.
For now, I leave you with a reminder, raid bosses are going to be no joke
This has had a massive effect on the defenders list. Before in a lvl 30 match-up Blisseys would be more than 100% effective overall, now only the top move-set is, and even the Gyarados with the top move-set would actually win a few battles: now none of them can win any battles. But most disappointingly Rhydon has completely disappeared from the defensive metagame: https://www.pokebattler.com/rankings/defenders/levels/30/attackers/levels/30/strategies/DEFENSE_RANDOM_MC/DODGE_SPECIALS
I agree for the most part. Rhydon and Tyranitar both took a large hit in the defensive ratings. I just finished uploading the first Monte Carlo simulations and as expected, Zen headbutt/Dazzling Gleam Blissey pulled ahead of Pound. These simulations are far more accurate than the Expected simulation as it runs multiple actual random simulations in a row instead of using any sort of mathematical averaging. To get the results out quicker, I ran them with only 100 simulations.
The 300 simulation results will take some more time to generate but will be even more accurate. I also will likely be tweaking the ranking algorithms based on the new meta. The current attacker rankings is not very useful as you arent going to be attacking with Dragonite into a Lapras.
Enjoy!
Any insight into why Donphan falls to 19 in the 30 v 30 defender rankings but is a top 10 defender in the other level matchups?
Not sure. The monte Carlo sims were not run at a high count so they will vary a bit. But it could also be a particular energy situation caused by fight length or a damage breakpoint. I’m busy with lots of changes on the site right now but after I have updated everything I can look into it.
